Job Description
Kora is looking to hire a full-time underwriter for our Toronto, ON office with experience in reviewing, analyzing, and making lending decisions. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of underwriting experience as well as meticulous attention to detail, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- A full-time underwriter at Kora is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and approving applications for auto loans. Including eligible loan amount calculation, cash flow analysis, update loan settings per requested, and more as needed.
- Responsible for making lending decisions with supervisory underwriter and upper management, determining if additional information is necessary, and ensuring that all loan decisions comply with internal policies and federal and state regulations.
- Work closely with the customer support team and provide analytical & operational support.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists in various testing initiatives and projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in a business concentration such as mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, business administration, actuarial science, or other related fields
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Previous underwriting experience is strongly preferred. Experience in auto loan or car dealership is a huge plus.
- Knowledge in Python is preferred
- Self-motivated and willing to assume responsibility
- Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Ability to drive change and improve efficiencies on the team
- Proficient in Excel
- Toronto, ON based
