In response to Thomson Reuters expanding CoCounsel initiative, Thomson Reuters Labs is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join its Legal Technology team. This individual will drive the vision and execution for one of the CoCounsel Machine Learning teams and will product manage for a cross functional team of technical professionals, including applied scientists and research engineers.

CoCounsel is Thomson Reuters’ legal AI assistant, designed to facilitate the complex and often tedious workflows of legal professionals from research to contract drafting and review. CoCounsel is built to perform a wide range of tasks including document review, summarization, contract compliance, and event timeline organization. It is capable of processing vast repositories of documents across many domains and quickly condensing critical information to answer valuable user questions. The research teams within Labs identify, build, and refine many of the skills that make up this AI assistant. The legal technology team is currently focused on developing a set of cutting-edge document review and drafting skills to serve both transactional and litigation use cases. About the role
In this opportunity as Technical Product Manager, you will:

Define, socialize, drive and report on product Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and their corresponding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
-
Assemble technical product vision, roadmaps, define epics and features, collect and review user feedback, refine user requirements, prioritize, drive execution, and adjust delivery schedules as needed to drive progress towards OKRs.

Partner with leadership to plan for adequate team resourcing, effective team collaboration, and to properly estimate and communicate delivery timelines.
-
Ensure your team is aligned with partnering product, engineering, content, design, and subject matter expert teams.
-
Identify and implement communication patterns that facilitate collaboration while protecting team focus.
-
Provide technical guidance to partner product teams during all phases of development including but not limited to solution brainstorming, prioritization, technical feasibility scoping, and UX research/design.

Balance factors such as cost, time to market and resourcing to optimize iterative value delivery for customers.
Responsibilities

Develop and articulate a clear technical vision and product strategy that aligns with business objectives and is informed by a deep understanding of user needs, market trends, and technology advancements.

Lead the creation, maintenance, and execution of the product roadmap, ensuring it reflects priorities, market opportunities, and competitive positioning.

Foster strong, collaborative relationships with product, engineering, design, and subject matter expert teams to ensure alignment on and effective execution of product delivery.

Establish a strong partnership with your Product Manager peers and develop the overall product requirements – both for the team working on application development and AI as a Service development.

Establish a strong partnership with your TPM peers to learn from each other’s team retrospectives.

Serve as a key liaison, communicating and translating between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to drive shared understanding and decision-making.

Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team, encouraging agile practices and a mindset that adapts to change and embraces new opportunities for growth.

Champion agile methodologies, facilitate cross-functional meetings, and support the team in overcoming obstacles to ensure on-time, high-quality product delivery.

Guide the end-to-end development process of products and services, from ideation through launch and lifecycle management, balancing business requirements with technical feasibility and user experience.

Utilize technical expertise to drive design and implementation of user-centric features, leveraging analytics, user research, and feedback mechanisms to continuously improve the user experience.

Monitor market and technology trends to proactively adapt product features, ensuring the product stays ahead of industry developments and maintains a competitive edge.

Oversee the product feature development and release process, establishing standards, processes, and validation practices that ensure quality and compliance.

Continuously assess and prioritize product enhancements and decommissioning, ensuring the product suite remains relevant and streamlined.

Stay close to your end users, their JTBD and feedback even if they are not your direct users.

Manage prioritization of features in tandem with other commitments such as cost optimization, time to market, skill and talent of available resources, and operation efficiency.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Technical Product Manager, if your background includes:
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, machine learning or related field
-
At least 3 years proven track record in technical product development, with a focus on applied AI research and end-to-end delivery of AI-driven products.

At least 3 years of demonstrated expertise in building and deploying Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, or Computer Vision systems, from concept to production.
-
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse audiences and articulating a compelling strategic vision.
-
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence within a matrix organization.
-
Experience with agile project management and scrum methodologies.
-
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, utilizing data and metrics to inform decisions.
-
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (ML science, Engineering, UXR, Design, Marketing) to balance trade-offs in technologies and execution strategies.
-
High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision.
-
Experience balancing short-term tactical execution with strategic long-term vision.
Preferred Qualifications
-
At least 1 year of experience owning a Software as a Service, Machine Learning Platform or Human in the Loop products.

Experience coaching and developing a team of indirect reports.

Data-driven decision making.

Experience writing and publishing research papers at conferences and workshops.
