About this Opportunity

The Indirect Procurement team is responsible for ensuring that products and services purchased are provided with the best value and quality for what is required. They are responsible for developing contracts, managing the vendor selection process, monitoring spending and driving policy compliance for audits. The team is split into different spend categories (e.g. Equipment, IT, Facilities) with dedicated Category Managers who manage them. This team is highly energized and is successfully driven by their team approach and customer focus attitude.
 
The data analyst portion of the role is to drive understanding around the Global Spend and Savings for the company with respect to indirect products and services. These analytics helps to ensure the company runs successfully. The opportunity allows for global data trend analysis across a number of business functions around the globe. The data is reported to various senior leaders and executives in the company.
 
The quote controller portion of the role acts as the Indirect Procurement “Request for Quote/Information” (RFX) focal point between external and internal stakeholders. You are the communication engine of the department.
 
This role combines data analytics with business savvy communication development opportunities. This individual should be self-driven, have interest in continuous improvement and a willingness to support their team. Students will have the opportunity to work in the Corporate Supply Chain and develop skills in supply chain/commodity business practices, communications, analytics, as well as advanced proficiency in various Microsoft products, project management and Global interaction experience.
 
Students will enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment with opportunities to develop many skills, while working in a highly motivated team. This position is ideal for students that are currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year from Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Commerce/Finance, or Social Sciences.

  • Excellent PC skills (database software and major desktop applications)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel (analysis, pivot tables & vlookup)
  • Familiar with Google applications including Google Drive, Mail, Calendar etc.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work autonomously once trained
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as per customer needs
  • Inquisitive and detailed oriented (comfortable asking questions)
  • Ability to learn and quickly develop new skills

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Has worked with either Python/R
  • Experience in SQL 
  • Experience in Power BI
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, procurement and electronics industry
  • Some education and/or experience in the finance or accounting field 

Activities

  • Create and Manage Dashboards based on Executive and Regional Needs
  • Automate and manage existing workflows with Python and PowerApps
  • Updating and Maintaining Databases in Azure and other Software.
  • Compile, analyze and reporting of indirect procurement data
  • Create and present a Monthly Operating Report
  • Assist Commodity Managers with spend analysis and the categorization of key spend area
  • Perform routine reporting tasks that involve spend, performance reports and invoice analysis
  • Send out RFX packages, manage proposals, timelines, questions & answers related to RFQs
  • Setting up NDA documents with potential vendors
  • Develop vendor comparison charts (price, capabilities)
  • Set up site visits and vendor meetings
  • Participate to volunteering activities within Celestica volunteer programs

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office with exposure to manufacturing environments.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.).
