We’re actively seeking talented early career actuaries to join Pacific Life we are recruiting for candidates to work from our Toronto office for local teams and teams around the world.
As an early-career actuary at Pacific Life Re, you will join the Actuarial Rotation Program within Pacific Life or Pacific Life Re. The program provides a comprehensive approach to helping our student actuaries build well rounded careers. Students will have the opportunity to complete several rotations as they progress toward achieving their FSA designation. The opportunity to rotate through different positions exposes student actuaries to multiple functional and product areas and strengthen their technical skills. Our students are mentored and supported through their career development with exam study time, materials and fees covered by the company.
As a member of the Actuarial Rotation Program, you will be considered for rotational positions across the organization in our Corporate, Consumer Markets, Institutional, Workforce Benefits and International Reinsurance divisions. Each division has actuarial teams focused on roles in valuation, modeling, risk management, as well as pricing, product design and experience studies.

How you will make an impact as an Actuarial Analyst:
- Actively pursue the FSA designation through exam success supported by the company.
- Perform analysis to assess and manage risk associated with insurance and other financial products & instruments.
- Analyze and provide counsel to business leaders regarding the economic and financial costs of risk and uncertainty for the business.
- Use knowledge of advance statistical analysis, predictive modeling analytics, financial accounting, and/or actuarial research to develop, test, and validate models used in business decisions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in a relevant subject area, e.g. mathematics, statistics, data science or actuarial studies.
- One or more exams of a professional actuarial body (e.g. Society of Actuaries)
- Demonstrates an appropriate level of actuarial knowledge for their experience level.
- Awareness of systems and ability to learn: Excel, Emblem, R, SQL, Python and Tableau.
- Shows initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
- Provides accurate and timely updates on status of work and escalates issues appropriately.
- Participates actively in meetings, has ‘meeting presence’.
- Ability to work well on a team as well as independently.
