Computational and Data Systems Initiative – Data Science Solutions Hub (Jose Andres Correa)
Position Summary:
- Monitors the CDSI online message board, consults on more advanced enquiries that require knowledge of statistical methods and software applications;
- Provides guidance on the design of experiments and studies;
- Provides advice on the collection of data;
- Provides detailed instructions on the statistical analysis of data and engages in the analysis of data sets;
- Provides advice on statistical software packages and how to use and compare them;
- Advises during the preparation of the statistical method sections of grant applications and research manuscripts; Assists with budgeting for consulting services on grant proposals;
- Troubleshoots for manuscripts that need revisions to the statistical methods section;
- Provides advice on the optimal way to collect and analyze the data;
- Ensures CDSI students and Faculty’s needs are met
- Carry out any other related duties assigned by the CDSI directors and coordinators (example: MS Bookings).
Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g. R, Stata, SAS);
- Broad knowledge and experience in modern approaches to statistical methods and theory;
- Strong knowledge of programming software (e.g. Python, R),
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good command of computer operating systems (Linux, Mac, Windows) is an asset.
Experience and education:
- Master’s degree in Statistics or equivalent experience
- Graduate Student registered in a McGill program is preferred
Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
