Manager, Business Intelligence, Canadian Commercial Banking
Purpose
Supports development of Business Intelligence in Canadian Business Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities:
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Supports the development and management of business intelligence/MIS/Analytics for Canadian Business Bank:
• Develops business intelligence reports including Sales Team Scorecards, Sales activity and other Portfolio Management reports and solutions
• Ensures reports are available to the business on a timely basis and are accurate
• Provides reports encompassing all Business Bank business lines, sub-business lines and segments
• Ensures Sales teams and Business Bank leadership teams have appropriate amount of drill down capability to measure and manage their portfolios/business performance
• Works with other reporting teams (e.g. Salesforce) to ensure business intelligence produced by different groups in the bank produce consistent results
Provides leading edge solutions to Business Banking stakeholders on Business Intelligence/MIS:
• Implements reports in leading edge business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
• Supports development of appropriate infrastructure for Business Banking teams to access reports on an on demand basis (e.g. through Salesforce)
• Enhances their knowledge and skills on business intelligence tools and infrastructure on an ongoing basis to provide Canadian Business Banking best in class Business Intelligence solutions
• Ensures ongoing improvements in automation and process improvements to cut down cycle time for report generation and availability
Supports the development of analytics to enable sales effectiveness, portfolio management and business development:
• Supports incumbents manager, Commercial Customer Experience and the Leadership team in annual development and/or refinement of Performance metrics for the sales teams across all Canadian Business Bank lines
• Provides in-depth analysis/insights on historical metrics and assists in development of new metrics
• Ensures new metrics are incorporated into Performance reporting on a timely basis
• Helps develop analytics to support key commercial bank initiatives (e.g. The Pulse, Operational reporting/analytics, portfolio management and business development initiatives etc.)
Collaborates with stakeholders in relation to delivery of Business intelligence:
• Works collaboratively with data infrastructure teams within Canadian Business Banking Analytics and GBM Analytics teams to ensure appropriate data infrastructure is in place to facilitate timely and accurate delivery of business intelligence reports
• Works collaboratively on requests from field support teams to ensure field queries and feedback is actioned and incorporated in future MIS development
• Works proactively with development teams in Salesforce and other areas to improve infrastructure required to enhance efficiencies for end users and for the Analytics teams
• Supports Commercial Customer Experience and Sales teams on ad-hoc analysis

Dimensions:
• The Business Bank is a large contributor to Canadian Banking and is comprised of numerous sub-business lines.
• The Manager receives direction from Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and MIS, Director and Head of Data and Analytics, Canadian Business Banking Directors, VPs, Senior VPs and works independently to identify, develop and implement strategies and achieve results.
• A high degree of judgement is required to effectively review and analyze initiatives, as well as to create directions for various projects.
Education / Experience / Other Information:
Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics or Statistics
• MBA (Finance or Marketing) – preferred
Experience:
• 3+ years experience in developing Business Intelligence solutions through Power BI and/or Tableau
• Detailed experience in the following: Unix, Mainframe, SQL, SAS, other programming tools
• 2-5 years’ experience in programming, application development and/or data warehousing
• Experience accessing, compiling and analyzing large volumes of data into usable form, using SAS, SQL server database programming
• Experience with RDBMs, Cassandra, HDFS, and/or graph databases an asset
• Experience with open-source languages such as Python, Django, Flask, JS, D3, Angular an asset
Skills:
• Excel programming and Microsoft Access skills including queries, forms, reports and macros
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
• Strong prioritizing, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills
• Effective strategic thinking, organizational know-how and influencing skills are critical for success
• High degree of knowledge of Business products and profit drivers
• The role requires a high degree of collaboration across wide ranging groups: Global Banking & Markets (GBM); GBP; Finance, Wealth Management, Retail Small Business, and various Business Banking areas. Works with various partners using influence and negotiation skills to ensure objectives are met.
• Strong technical skills in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or related fields
• Excellent design and delivery capabilities
Working Conditions:
• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
